Vernal Equinox by dsp2

Vernal Equinox

2018.03.20 Tuesday: In my part of the world, the vernal (spring) equinox occurred at 11:15 a.m. today. Spring flowers are blooming, the grass is getting greener every day, and the birds are cheerfully singing their spring songs.

However, we had strong storms yesterday that brought in a cold front. The weather today is cold, overcast, and misty -- It feels much more like winter than spring!

When I ventured outdoors for a very short walk around our yard, I was pleased to see that our Hawthorne is in full bloom now. Perhaps soon the weather will catch up to its beautiful spring flowers!
you're way further on than we are - Alabama might account for it!! Lovely! (tho' I suspect this may not be hawthorn!)

Love the crinkle you have caught with your good focus, of the petals!

I find myself somewhat envious. We are on the edge of the nor'easter. It ain't pretty outside at all this evening.

Beautiful, our weather is all over the place too. We seem to be having more hot days now that it's Autumn than we had in Summer.

This is delightful! The pleasures of Spring are many, and the long Winter makes them all the more enjoyable!

@anniesue Thanks for your input! I just started nature journalling and am fascinated by the dazzling variety of plants in existence!

After reading your comment, I went outdoors to look at our Hawthorn tree and make sure that this pic was of that tree ...LOL! As I understand it, there are over 200 different varieties of hawthorns; this one is just a Common Hawthorn. (I am thinking about planting an Indian Hawthorn in the near future -- if I can find a spot in my yard for another plant!) You must have some different varieties in your area -- I would love to see some of them if you ever take a pic!

A fabulous capture of this very pretty blossom.

@dsp2 I agree - plants and names differ! I'll try to remember to feature some blossoms in the comings months - rather later than yours of course!
