Hey! You! Get offa my perch!!

Many thanks to everyone for the views and comments on yesterday's shot; they're a real encouragement.
I'm still not very mobile - and getting a bit stir crazy so Lester kindly took me Marlow for an hour this afternoon for a limp along by the river, and a cuppa. Cake might have been involved as well. :-)
I never tire of watching the gulls along the river, and taking photos of them. Here's one being forcibly evicted from its perch by another.
Nice catch! cool background too.

Great capture!! I'm sorry to read you're not too good right now. I'm sure a cake and a cuppa helps!

@johnkratofil Thanks, John. :-)
@kimmiesue Thanks, Kim :-) They certainly do - trouble is they 're also very good for the waistline. :-D

Fantastic capture! Am thinking of having a limp along the GU fairly soon . Can you recommend anywhere for a coffee and a really sickly cake?

@anitahoyle Thank you :-) Whereabouts are you planning to go? There's one near the Marsworth reservoirs that I can thoroughly recommend (not the Bluebell Tea rooms).

@anitahoyle Sorry, Anita, I pressed the delete instead of the reply button. D'oh!
Can no longer recommend Bluebell Tea Rooms. Meads, the farm shop past the reservoirs going towards Aston Clinton, does yummy sponge cake (the choc. one is out of this world but not always available) and millionaire's shortbread. May I join you? I'm fairly harmless. :-D

Wonderful shot Alison, hope you are feeling better.

@bdb3471 Thank you, Brian. :-) I'm a bit more mobile but still not right. :-(

Superb capture, such good focus and positioning of the birds. Hope you soon more mobile.

A brilliant shot. It looks like one bird is pushing the other off the ploe. I hope you are better soon. It is amazing how a piece of cake can make you feel a little better.

@jennywren Aw, thank you, Jen.
@jtookey150 Thank you, Jean :-) That's exactly what happened - the second gull knocked the first one off by crashing into him!

Nat
You seem to have ticked a lot of boxes with that shot : subject, composition, framing, lighting, background isolation, focus and a nice fast capture.
Nice work.

Nice frozen motion.

Fiz
what a capture, that is fantastic.

@natsnell @islawight Thank you both. I think the camera gets most of the credit for this. It's still on auto settings and will be for quite some time, I think.
January 19th, 2012
@fiz Thanks, Fiz! :-) Done on auto settings, though.

@jenrobcarr Thank you, Jennifer. [Whispers in case gremlins hear] - it seems to be getting more mobile. :-)
January 20th, 2012
@dulciknit yay, thank goodness, hope you are 100% soon x
January 20th, 2012
@dulciknit Great! Would love to meet up. Will let you know when I'm going.

@anitahoyle Yay! Cool!

@chamal Many thanks, Charles. We are not getting much sunshine in the UK at the moment and there are not many flowers, except in the shops. Your flowers series is very cheering. Thank you. :-)
