This is part of a very elaborate decoration round the gateway to the Charles Clore Learning Centre at Hampton Court Palace. The gate itself is decorated in the same fashion.
There were two of us staying with my friend, the other lady was a professional artist and teacher before she retired. She and I went for a walk by the River Thames near the palace today. It rained later but we had a few hours bright sunshine.
Charles Clore was a British financier, retail and property magnate and philanthropist. This centre (one of a number up and down the country) provides teaching and exhibition facilities to help visitor groups interpret the history of the palace.

I love the composition of this shot. The metal looks so good against the sky and next to the brick wall. I love Hampton Court. Have you been to look round the Royal School of Needlework ?
