That's Pitstone windmill in the background. It's about 15 minutes drive from where Lester and I live and is a National Trust property. It's believed to be about the oldest mill in the country. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitstone_Windmill
I've posted a couple of shots of it previously, it's a wonderful subject to photograph.
I noticed when we were driving by a couple of days ago (you can see it from the road) that the corn in the field in which it stands was ripe and thought I ought to get back there pretty soon before the corn was cut. I made it with 10 minutes to spare. While I was taking some photos of the thistles alongside the footpath to the mill after doing this one, a combine harvester drove into the field and got to work!

This is a beautiful example of composition for maximum effect! The crop in the foreground is pin-sharp and the mill in the background less so, yet it steals the scene . . . and the narrative completes the picture. How could I not make this a FAV?
