Stepped field

Written Saturday. My brain woke me up at silly o'clock this morning to tell me I'd been very muddled in my thinking over my photo for 17th - posting a wide landscape to do with weather and then waffling on in the caption about steps and hill forts. So I cropped the shot, re-worked it a little and hopefully it now says what really fascinates me.
Or maybe I should have turned over and gone back to sleep.
Signed,
Confused of Wendover

PS Or maybe I was confused about what I was trying to achieve. Duhhh.
Can still see what fascinates you, it is fort like as someone said yesterday; another option (and this is from a park from my childhood) could there be bomb shelters under there? You need Time Team:0)

@claireuk I agree; Time Team to the rescue (we see that show here, too. Just what you need.) Would much rather it be a hill fort than a plain old sheep trail.

I see the fascination, but prefer the first shot.

LOL! You are so funny and think so much like me in the wee hours of the night. I rather like this shot a tad more, but I'm no expert. I think the scene is beautiful....love all that snow!

An entirely different image, isn't it. I'm always a crop fan (I'm sure you've noticed :) ) and I do like this version.

Nicely cropped, but I prefer the other version.Could well be an old fort.

Dear confused It is probably the cold getting to the thinking bits, something is definitely affecting mine. I see what you mean about the hill forts but I loved the first shot. The path and gate reminded me of Royston Heath.

I love the steps in this, but I think overall, my preference is the original shot. Just my opinion. :)

Dear Confuseded of Wendover. I agree with Cindy. I liked the first view best. There is more to see.

Please excuse the mass reply, ladies but I did just want to say a particular thank you for the feedback on this shot - it's very kind of you and very helpful.

One thing is certain - it is evidence of an early settlement. I didn't see the first shot but I like the shapes in this.

Ah - I'm working backwards and have just seen yesterdays...! Sorry. I haven't been paying much attention lately on account of being overwhelmed by family, but they went home yesterday.

@janturnbull Thank you, Janet. It *is* evidence and not just me romancing? Oh, that's rather exciting!
January 20th, 2013
@janturnbull Oooh, please don't apologise - it's always lovely to 'see' you, whenever you can make it!
January 20th, 2013
@dulciknit I'm sure it's not just you romancing. You might be interested in this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Buckinghamshire#Human_settlement_in_pre-history Apparently there are pre-Roman earthworks all over the county.

@janturnbull Oh, thank you - and the name Wendover itself is evidence of early settlement! I'll have to find a contact for our nearest local history society and see if someone there can tell me some more.
