Probably better on large view if you have a moment. Thank you.
I had a great time in @jennywren 's company when we met again, on Thursday and Friday of last week. Friday we went to St.Alban's cathedral.
This is a view of the high altar and part of its screen. The amount of detail in the screen, altar cloth, carpet and floor intrigues me because it's overwhelming. When I took the shot I hadn't thought about making a b&w in processing but the clash of colours in the carpet and the altar cloth and the range of tones in the shot prompted me to do it.

This is gorgeous, Alison! The details are quite extraordinary. Wonderful capture of it. You have such a sense of balance and symmetry. It really comes through in your architecture shots. I do think the B&W is a good choice. It allows the eye to take in the details without being distracted by color. FAV
The amount of detail is breathtaking - and you brought it all out. Going to b&w was perfect for this - you really take in all the detail with no distractions. And the clarity is fantastic.
@jennywren Thank you, Jenny. Oddly enough, the light variation was OK (more by luck than judgement!) but the colours in the carpet clashed with the green of the altar cloth and it all jarred horribly.
