Great composition, really shows the machine and all the workings and reels. Gives such a feel of the machine working.

Alison, my Grandparents (Dad's side). both worked in Cotton Mills in Bolton !
I followed your link, I think the mill might be in Bolton, but it is a long time since I lived there !! Some Boltonians get credits on the album (Bernard Wrigley) and the couple seem to be based just outside Bolton and playing bars and clubs in Bolton !

What's your connection with them ?

@phil_howcroft This was taken at Masson Mills, Phil. We were holidaying in Glossop a while ago and visited the mills. https://www.massonmills.co.uk/Museum/
Ah, Bernard Wrigley! I've never seen him live (only in a couple of episodes of Corrie many years ago) but we have a couple of his albums.
I don't know if the Aspeys ever made it down South either, but we've albums of theirs too. Lester and I are old folkies. :-D

@phil_howcroft Oh, no, come to think of it we did see the Aspey's at a folk club dahn Sahf once!
What work did your Grandparents do in the mills?

@dulciknit I am not too sure what my grandparents did in the mills , I think my grandad was some kind of supervisor , had a group of ladies working for him, My other grandad was a steeplejack until he had a fall an accident up one and lost his confidence , Fred Dibnah was his apprentice

@phil_howcroft How interesting!
Your poor grandad, though. What did he do afterwards?

@dulciknit he fell while near the top . He managed to stop the fall by grabbing hold of the ropes but burnt his hands with the friction . His palms were brown after the fall. He smoked woodbines so I suppose they were brown from that too . He became a school caretaker !!!

Loving the pattern and depth. The interesting break in the pattern with the different angle on the near reels helps us to appreciate the pattern even more.
