It is the oil drop that attracts the eye, which then climbs on the scratched metal surface in focus before getting dissipated along the blurred edge. Thanks to this leading blurred edge, I like the large surface dedicated to the out of focus part of the tool. The out of focus part acquires a readable presence, but still leaves the main role to the in focus part. The picture would have been less rich if it had been cropped more tightly around its in focus part. It is a technique that I did not know.
