Stop/Go

A feature on any long-distance travelling in South Africa is the Stop/Go system, where roads are being repaired and re-surfaced. The often provide a very good break for the driver too! It's a lonely, cold job for the workers. This picture was taken just before sunset near Richmond, in the Northern Cape.

At this point our holiday had a Stop/Go as well. I'd been getting increasingly worrying information about my mother's health, and alarming reports from her Doctor. My family then informed me that we would be going home, and that I should go to give my parents support. And so, we slept the night at Witsieshoek, and then drove back to Cape Town. Michael drove just short of 3000kms in 3 days. We got home round midnight. The next morning I drove to Mossel Bay.

(Note from 24 June: My Mom is home and will be fine once she has recuperated from the hospital!)
Sorry to hear that your trip was cut short. I hope your mother is OK.

Hope your mom is well soon! Maybe, you can do some fun things closer to home instead of the big trip.
