At the top of Sir Lowry's Pass there is a look-out point for tourists (and locals, if they are interested!) I stopped to take a picture of the curios on sale, displayed on a low wall. Most are wooden carved figures. The salesman is a Maasai from Tanzania, one of the millions of "legal refugees" making their living in South Africa. He knows his market, and did not bother to try and sell me anything, but did give me his email address for copies of my pictures.

Eleanor, I love that looking at your photos makes me feel like I am on an amazing journey instead of sitting at my computer in the suburbs of Virginia. While I have yet to meet a giraffe, I do think they are quite elegant looking.
That is an amazing picture. At first I thought that was just a backdrop - a picture - but it's real, right? I mean the animals are figurines, but the backdrop, that stunning sight, is real??

What a perfectly wonderful picture, Eleanor! The little silhouettes are just a delight, and the sunset...WOW!... It all works together beautifully! No wonder the salesman asked for copies of your pictures; he's just going to be thrilled with this. Me, too...I'm also saving it to my favorites folder!
