When you look back, do you laugh or cry?

The ladies loo at "Bar Bar Black Sheep", a gorgeous restaurant in Riebeek West is decorated with an eclectic mix of old South African things. The crocheted toilet-roll cover is one of the classics.

The real collector's item is the ex-railways sign. It comes from the apartheid era when train tickets were sold to different races as 'class' tickets. It makes for an amusing moment now, but what it recalls, never was.
You are getting around .I'm so envious _ the power of observation !

Looking back on a childhood when I frequented places marked 'Europeans only', I am struck by the irony, since I now live in Europe and must join airport queues marked 'non-Europeans'!

I was always among the minority of white South Africans who call themselves African... but I never appreciated just how African I was until I moved to Europe!

Wow! It does make me shake my head and make me thankful that we live in the here and now.

I went to a local museum today and there are such interesting things there! Love history!

Cringe! But wonderful capture. Lighting and angle. I'm certainly glad to be living in 2011 and that we have moved on.
