"The Fred"

The Fred Whitton Challenge is taking place today. 2,500 cyclists (a record number).

The Fred Whitton Challenge consists of a 112 mile route on public roads around the Lake District.

Starting at Grasmere it takes in the Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott & Wrynose passes. Awesome!!

@motherjane I'm impressed Jane. The earliest starters seemed to be about 06:15 in Grasmere and they were with me in Santon Bridge by 11:30 - 90 miles in 5 hours!

@ellida Yes for 56 he is relatively fit. He has finished in 8h 25m - a personal best. I think the first rider was 6h 35m!

Good shot. I was in Gosforth with my camera when they were due and realised that they had been rerouted so the moment had gone as I had to get sonmewhere else.
