Flags on rooftops on feast days and special occasions are a tradition in many villages across Malta. The photo is of two flags, one smaller than the other, flapping in the wind, in the setting sun on the same roof. Today was Pentecost Sunday, so happy birthday to all Christians. The flags shown are that of Sovereign Military Order of Malta or the Knights of Malta but here and today they are flying because of the special feast of Pentecost and represent not the Order but what is known in Maltese as the "Flag of religion"
I took several photos of the flags and chose this one as it showed a good play of shadow, waves and back lighting.
