Turist in red patches

Or in patches of red. This area is just over the Victoria Gate pictured yesterday. This card phone box must have become iconic as many tourists were stopping by and taking pictures inside it or next to it with the building with the red apertures in the background. In fact there are many pictures of this spot on the Web. It must be a box set up before 1964 as it has the crown emblem at the top. Of course back then it wasn't a card phone. Anyone remembers how the coin ones operated; with the A and B push buttons?... and there used to be a telephone directory inside!
A real retro atmosphere. I like the repetition of the red colours.

Excellent image.

Fabulous street shot. As children we used to keep pressing the
A & B buttons to see if any money would come out and occasionally it did!!

I can remember button A & B. These days in the UK many phone boxes are being repurposed as libraries, places for defibrillators and even a coffee shop.
