23rd May 2016

Here are the three golfers on the 18th hole at the end of their first game which lasted nearly 5 hours.

I am not a golfer but the course and grounds of the Palace are beautiful. The course is a mature course with a lot of trees and wildlife everywhere. Whilst Colin, Richard and Anne were working their way around the course, I was exploring. I saw lizards, a ladder snake (over a meter long), nesting birds - nuthatches, chaffinches, robins, blackbirds, thrushes, pied wagtails to name but a few. There was also a little black squirrel which looked rather like the red squirrels in the UK - but black!

I also found the hotel donkey tied up outside. I had bought polos especially but he did not seem impressed. He preferred a roll I had liberated from breakfast for the birds. He was quite frisky and I think he wasn’t in the best of condition. I am going to buy some carrots when I find a supermarket.
5 hours for a round of golf me thinks report them for slow play
