Leaving the US was as traumatic as entering with incredibly rude staff including one who wanted to check my hand luggage - no problem there but when he started to slam my gear onto the desk with full force I had to say something.  They swabbed Colin’s hands for drugs/explosives as well which did not go down well.

Not much to say about the flight home apart from the fact that it was an extremely old 777.

There was minimal space, the people in front of us put their seats right back before the seatbelt sign had gone off and they stayed that way for the entire flight. The in flight entertainment was a tiny screen controlled from the arm of the seat. Breakfast consisted of a cup of tea and a slice of Soreen malt loaf.

The one redeeming thing about the flight was the superb views over Teddington, Richmond and central London as we were held in a holding pattern above Heathrow.
