8th June 2017

Election Day.

After weeks of electioneering the day is finally here and although I always vote, I could not bear the thought of watching the progress through the day. Sometime ago my friend Sarah and I had planned a day out and after the awful events at London Bridge on Saturday we changed plans to go up town as we didn't think it was such a good idea on this particular day.

For some time I have wanted to visit the Watts Gallery and artists village in Surrey near Guildford. It was absolutely excellent and I cannot believe that I have never been here before. It was fascinating, very well laid out and had an excellent cafe where we were forced to try a scone with jam and cream and a pot of Darjeeling in the morning and a slice of carrot cake with a coffee later on in the day!

As it was a grey day I didn't bother taking the camera so took some grab shots on the mobile. These are terracotta reliefs on the exterior of Watts Chapel - an amazing example of Arts and Craft art.

I voted on my return at Teddington Library and then went straight out again to my photo club in the evening to try and persuade members to come to our summer social - like wading through mud!!
