2nd October 2017

Time to move on. It has been an amazing time here in Exmouth that started rather slowly and with unexpected weather conditions but ended on a high. Today it was absolutely calm and very hot! We took our time packing, me avoiding a large dead Huntsman spider I found in the wardrobe.

Exmouth kept on giving as an emu strolled across the road on our half an hour drive to the incredibly quiet airport. This is the view of the airport and shows exactly how arid this area of Western Australia actually is... our last view of the outback I think - I really like Western Australia and think this is probably the most authentic part of the country.

The first time today my luggage (and myself) were swabbed for drugs at Exmouth but this was in such a friendly fashion I really could not take offence... Unfortunately my luggage seems to have expanded or at least the contents had and so half of my zip was open on arrival at Perth. I was panicking slightly but managed to buy another luggage strap from an extremely helpful lady in a shop in the domestic terminal. Having fixed the zip and having checked ourselves in, I then could not get the label to register on my suitcase as we had to self check-in and we had to find someone to help. The final straw was that not only myself and my hand luggage but then poor old Gulliver bear were all swabbed for drugs AGAIN - was it something I was wearing?

The second flight was fairly uneventful thank goodness and Quantas seems a nice airline (at least I was offered two bottles of good red wine!).

At long last at 12.45am we arrived at our hotel in the centre of Melbourne in Southern Australia. I am missing the emus and outback.
