26th October 2017

The day did not start that well as my MacBook Air completely failed. I was just writing on Facebook when it went all black and started beeping and I cannot get it to do anything. A quick Google on my phone suggests I have a problem with the RAM.  This is really frustrating as I can no longer post anything on my photography FaceBook page or 365 - this will be posted when we return. Anyway, on with the day...

We checked out of our lovely Sydney base in the Rocks. It has been a great location but we are onwards and upwards on the last two stages of our trip.  As we already had the hire car we could pack quite leisurely and enjoy our final breakfast and my final time using the amazing fruit juicer (I got it just right today, good fruit mix with ginger, I lined up the plunger properly and made exactly the right amount!).

We headed out of Sydney and it seemed a better route than yesterday. We have two nights in the Blue Mountains about an hour and a half from Sydney. I'll be honest, the place is not at all what either of us expected. I had envisaged narrow winding roads through forests with quaint remote villages. The road is more of a highway and the 'quaint little villages are large towns. We visited 'Gordon's Lookout' which has impressive views over the eucalyptus forests in the canyon. Onto the 'Three Sisters' and 'Echo Point' which was as busy as the Twelve Apostles had been on the Great Ocean Road.  Still, at least the photos will not convey the bustle and noise (the camera can lie!).

We headed to Katoomba which again was much bigger than we imagined to the extent that it had a very good computer shop. David the technician offered to check my laptop and sadly confirmed that not only is it a RAM failure as I had thought but also it is going to be very expensive to fix... hmmm, I have some thinking to do about my next course of action on our return to 'Old Blighty'.

The good news is that Colin found a camera shop and they have managed to put our diving shots from the memory card onto a disc and we saw that 99 images have been taken. We'll have to wait until we get home to view them though.

After all that excitement we headed onto Blackheath where we are staying for a couple of nights and in another example of how small the world actually is, the woman who runs the motel originally came from Sunbury just a few miles from where we live!!

I added another bird to my collection (and fed them ginger nut biscuits).  The night was incredibly foggy (or could have been cloud) and there was a very loud electrical storm that knocked out both the TV and internet.  No dessert tonight at the local pub as they just stopped serving food with no notice at 8.45pm!!
