Operation ‘Chariots of Fire’ was executed today to Colin’s surprise!

I got up just after he did to change into my spanking new running kit and shoes as I planned to run my first ever Bushy Park run - or at least walk it. I have decided that I must start some sort of exercise and will combine this with the ‘Couch to 5km’ (I prefer Couch to Potato) plan and I have downloaded the app. This is slightly in reverse but I wanted to see if I could make it. Colin was indeed shocked - not sure if it was my early rise on a Saturday or the sight of me in lycra.

I walked to Bushy Park and Colin cycled and we waited for the start. He had planned that we start off together but unfortunately, when the run was started I shot off, jogging which lasted for about a minute before I had to slow down. I then trotted and walked the 5km and finished in one of the hottest days this year with a fairly respectable time of 38 minutes and 31 seconds. Apparently a fit person will walk 5kms in an average of 45 minutes so I was pleased to have come in under this.

Colin was grumpy that we had not started together which rather took the shine off my surprise but hey-ho - it’s the first day of my get fit regime and I did not collapse and did finish so I am pleased with myself. I popped over to Molesey to drop off the table decorations that I had borrowed and Julia was very impressed with my first results (wearing the top she Kindly gave me as a present last week).
I think 38 minutes is wonderful! Congrats!

@danette Thank you Danette - I spend most of my time prepping images on the computer after shoots and for stock. I decided I really need to try and get fit - it's going to be long road!
