30th September 2018

Our last day with Hester and Brian before we set off on our journey home in the evening.

Colin stayed in to watch the Ryder Cup golf on his iPad and we went out to watch the Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross with cyclists on their final peak of Pen-y-Ghent ahead of them. The toughest and biggest cyclo-cross in the UK calendar, approximately 38 miles (although 4 miles cannot be ridden) up and down the peaks of Ingleborough, Wernside and Pen-y-Ghent. The eventual winner was Paul Oldham in 2:56:06 followed by Rob Jebb. Amazing!

We saw them whizz by and then rushed up to where we had started out walk a few days ago to see the first cyclist come back down, some of whom were covered in mud and blood.

An exciting end to our trip 'oop North' and good of everybody to put it on especially for us! The day finished with an impressive rainbow over the church just before we packed up the car to head back down South. We had a longer journey and for some reason detoured via Bradford thanks to the SatNav. I miss the Yorkshire fresh air.
