2nd March 2019

Finally the big day is here. We went running at Bushy Park in the morning - not a great time but at least I did it.

We prepared ourselves for the event of the year up town. I packaged the boxes to prevent them getting damaged as rain was forecast for later in the evening. Ian wanted us at Scalini’s restaurant as it opened and we had the task of setting out the place settings, checking the table and instructing the head waiter on how to present the boxes. I needed a glass of prosecco at this point!

Everyone started arriving at about 7.15pm and the evening went well. The waiter looked to me for instructions on delivery of the boxes and Karen was very surprised. I managed to throw a glass of wine on the table towards a loud family member but sadly missed her! The total bill for the evening was almost £2k so not a cheap night. I have to say that the service and food were very good and Ian had even ordered us a car home so that was much more comfortable than the District line and South West trains!
