19th March 2019

Rather understandably I didn’t sleep too well last night. My back is still hurting and the heavy course of ibuprofen is taking it’s toll on my stomach. My back is feeling a little better but my mind is rather all over the place. Another call from the hospital to book the follow up appointment with the results of next weeks procedure is booked for Tuesday 9th. I did panic until I logically thought that nobody has actually even looked at me yet so it can’t be because they think the worst, more that the NHS is being efficient and by getting the results so quickly are trying to reduce the obvious stress to a minimum. Funnily enough my stomach has been much better today! Odds must be in my favour, I eat lots of fruit and veg, don’t smoke, don’t drink excessively, I’ve been regularly exercising for the past 8 months and I’m not obese (not thin either!). I only have a few of the six main symptoms which can be accounted for by a number of conditions other than the most serious. NHS Stats are out of 100 people who gave this procedure, 92 will have polyps removed, 2 will have nothing wrong and 6 six will have a diagnosis of cancer. That’s a 94% chance of being in the clear...

I popped out for fresh air and to pick up some pressies for Mother’s Day - a book, posh chocs and a candle. All bought locally in the High street so I’m supporting local businesses even if I’m not feeling that supported myself.

Later on I made up the 150 card order and planned my cards and prints to sell at my photo club exhibition. I’m thinking ahead, if the results aren’t good news I may not be in a great mental state to sort them out when we’re back from Athens. I really don’t feel ill. I’m just feeling sick with worry :-(
