28th July 2019

After ‘shower-gate’ yesterday I was feeling rather stressed this morning! The upstairs shower got its first test out for a while and luckily it is still working well. The chap who Ian and Colin has organised to visit (and told me about afterwards!) arrived nice and early. I’ve met him before and he’s very nice and appreciated the long distance organisation!! He bought a colleague and between them it took nearly 40 minutes and the loan of a ladder to fix it. Slightly reassuring he did say that there was no way I could have repaired it myself and he wouldn’t even accept any ‘beer/breakfast’ money! I am relieved although still a tad annoyed that I had no part in the discussion or consultation on arrival time.

Onwards and upwards, it was straight onto Sainsbury’s for a massive shop and parking the car on geographically the furthest point from the shop so that it was less likely for anyone to park next to me. Photographic evidence was taken!

It took well over an hour as I’ve not done a big shop in about 6 months and so had to stock up on everything! Amazingly the car was still on its lonesome when I returned and I even filled the car - the third time only in its history - on the way home and found Lady Luck still shining on me as the same space was still free outside of the house. A quick lunch and then I cleaned the bathroom - this time I did not attempt to do the ceiling!

Mum and Ian made really good time and arrived at about 4.00pm. This is some of their produce from the allotment that they brought for us - rhubarb, runner beans and broad beans - Mmmm. I slightly overlooked dinner (smoke alarm only wen off once!) and later we enjoyed an excellent rhubarb gin that Mum had made although she drinks it neat and I add tonic and ice!

Tomorrow we are visiting the solicitor.
