I was really sad to see Mum and Ian go this morning although I persuade them to stay for tea and cake for elevenses. The next time I see Mum she will have had her operation. We are still not quite sure of the extent of the surgery and the further diagnostic tests next week will help to determine that.

Despite the clean house, cake and repairs to the ceiling I had undertaken, Colin wanted to relive ‘Shower-gate’ which as I had predicted, and tried to prevent, caused another blazing row. Happy days - tried to cheer myself up by doing 5 loads of washing - it didn’t work!

Just after lunch we walked over to Bushy Park to watch the start of the Prudential Ride 100 cycle race. For the first year ever the mens’ professional race started within Bushy Park near the Diana Fountain. We were in time to see the introduction of the teams of the podium in the car park and a little later watched the start from a great position near the Hampton Court Gate. Although it is all over in a matter of less than two minutes, I love the atmosphere. We walked back to watch the rest of the race on the television and spotted familiar landmarks.
