1st September 2019

I was sad to be heading back home today and to leave Mum. However, she really is doing much better than I expected and I am sure I will be visiting again soon - probably nearer her birthday. Needless to say it was quite sunny when we eventually left although that rapidly changed during the journey.

Traffic was good up the A30 and we stopped for lunch at Exeter Services. It was at this point that the journey started to go downhill as there was very heavy traffic on the A303. We ignored the first SatNav diversion which was probably not a good idea. When we realised the additional time added to our journey, we took the next two diversions but overall it took us easily an extra hour and half to get home. Moral of the story is not to travel on a weekend at the end of the summer school holidays if at all possible!
