2nd October 2019

It was a novelty to actually get to breakfast this morning at a sensible time and it felt like a positive lie-in to have an extra two hours in bed from yesterday. I have really enjoyed the two night stay at Olivers B & B in Corfe Castle and hope that we will return in the future so that I can achieve photographing the castle in early morning mist.

We packed up the car and headed further west to see our friends David and Lynda who live in Combpyne near Lyme Regis. It was somewhat a sad visit as Linda is now living in a home in Budleigh Salterton due to her dementia. David drove us to go and collect her and I’m glad he did drive as the traffic was very heavy due to a number of tractors on the narrow country roads which resulted in us stopping for quarter of an hour when everyone got cross! We waited for David and Lynda in the sunshine on the beach and managed not to have an early ice cream without them. Eventually David returned and Lynda was in the back of the car - sadly it was clear that she did not really recognise either of us although she seemed quite happy in our company and we had quite a few laughs. We had lunch in a mill café and I enjoyed pork and Colin had mackerel. Afterwards we drove back to Budleigh Salterton and had ice creams and tea and cake which Lynda clearly enjoyed

Just before David took Lynda back to her home he asked for me to take a photograph and after a rapid five shots this is my favourite of them both. Linda and David both look happy. It was very sad to drop Lynda off and return back to their home without her. We had a chance for a good chat with David and hope that he will come and visit us for a few days after he has been to South Africa to see his family.

Finally it was time to drive home and we had not quite realised the journey was nearly 3 hours however the lights on the new car are amazing and it makes it a lot easier driving. We got home around 9 pm and were quite tired.
