10th October 2019

After chasing up the printers yesterday, amazingly, by sheer chance my cards arrived just as we were leaving the house.

It was a dry day today so we decided to go out and try our National Trust membership cards again. We headed back to Osterley House which we visited with Jane from Australia a month ago. This time we enjoyed the free parking and wandered the grounds and gardens. I had hoped to photograph the kingfishers and had come prepared with my 70-200mm lens. Colin glimpsed one which I missed but they must have sensed my lens and no posing today so no shot. This just proves my lack of patience and why I’ll never be a wildlife photographer!

The house was impressive but actually there was not a great deal to see and I preferred the garden. It was quite chilly so after a nice lunch in the stable block again we headed home fora sit down.

I had to go out to photo club in the evening as I was on tea duty. I was feeling a bit like I’d rather have stayed at home but in the event (and despite confusion with the tea), it was one of the best evening of the year with photographer Margot Raggett talking abut her four amazing books to promote wildlife conservation. She was a great speaker and quite inspirational.

I brought the tea bags home as I forgot to lock them in the cupboard!
Beautiful building
