12th December 2019

Today started as a day of cooking and baking as I had to make 4lbs of potato salad and a Victoria sponge cake for my photo club function this evening and also a batch of mince pies with cinnamon and orange pastry and a teaspoon of brandy in each for Colin’s golf game tomorrow.

Once the cake was out cooling it was time to do the most important task of the day which was to head to Teddington library and cast my vote in this unwanted general election. We are quite lucky that we live in a safe Lib Den seat but I am seriously worried about the rest of the country and can only hope we have a hung parliament as it is unlikely that Labour will get in.

Politics over with and it was back to baking the mince pies in the afternoon and packing the car up with everything for the evening. We set off very early but despite this the traffic was horrendous and in the event, after collecting the key we were quite late on arrival. People had already started to set up but as I had the paper tablecloths they were rather halted. I worked very fast for half an hour and then everything started to come together and at the end of the evening we had enjoyed a very good buffet and plenty of wine. I was thanked but to be honest I was just glad it had all gone well. There was a lot of clearing up to do and this year I had prepared a special dirty cutlery box so I am hoping not to have lost any this year.
