1st February 2020

Waking up to the first day that the UK is officially out of Europe felt no different to any other day, mainly because it is no different as we will not officially cut ties until the 31st of December! It is also the first of February. This bench symbolises the loneliness of the UK after parting from Europe... and it was a lovely sunny morning.

Saturday is renamed Park Run day which is what we did but as well as thick mud it was the hardest run of the last few I’ve done this year and my time reflected this - at least it was under 32 minutes... just!

I have been worried about my eye since yesterday so we drove over to see our optician in East Sheen to have it checked out. Before he had even got close to me with his torch gadget he could see a massive floater. He gave me a thorough check over with another full scan of my eye. There are a lot of floaters, some of them quite large but nothing sinister going on. This is good news but does not help the fact that I’m having difficulty seeing. I have fingers crossed that it will settle down otherwise I may have to think about other options.

On our way back we dropped a large parcel of books off to be sent to a company who pay for certain books. It’s only about £12 worth but every little helps for our holiday fund. After a cup of tea I headed into Kingston to collect some euros from John Lewis and finally change some Croatian kunas back into kunas.

Positive - My eye problem is nothing serious according to the optician
