17th April 2020

Day 25 of lock down.

We discovered via Twitter that Simon Calder the travel expert was doing a live podcast on YouTube at midday. As ever he was very good although the sound quality was not great so we’ll try watching his next one on my iMac tomorrow. We have drafted a question about reimbursement of Colin’s Eurotunnel Le Shuttle ticket and hope he can advise us.

In the afternoon I managed to pull together some images from some time ago that I had taken using my light box. James at the photo club has cone up with a great idea of starting a group called Photography@Home and I’m going to say a few words about using a light box and various projects you can try.

My iMac crashed yesterday and I know I need to sort out putting in the RAM I bought some time ago. I’m putting it off but may have a go this weekend... or not!

Colin’s turn to bake this afternoon and he knocked up a batch of very good sultana scones which we were forced to test with clotted cream I had bought at the weekend. We thought we’d brave a walk a little later but just as we left the house the heavens opened with a much needed downpour although not needed on me! We looked at the river by Teddington footbridge and it’s definitely still a no-go zone as too many people cross in both directions. Instead we walked to Grove Gardens and back home via M&S for fresh milk.

I made spinach and ham frittata using Hester’s recipe with baked potato and sugar snaps. Very filling and nutritious - fresh fruit for dessert and a chance to compare my culinary presentation with the three finalists on Masterchef!!

The figures are not good but we seem to be plateauing or ‘reaching the top of the curve’ I think, which can only be good.

14,576 dead in the UK (up 847). The Government has announced a further three weeks of lock down - not a massive surprise and I understand why....
