Day 83 of lock down.

This morning I continued planning the front bedroom and bit the bullet and decided that I will have to get new curtains after all. I had hope to reuse the ones we already have but on closer inspection they are actually quite worn and they are dark blue and so although matching the carpet ill not really work with the neutral walls and wardrobes. I found a company I have looked at before which make curtains to order and they have a really good range of neutral fabrics. I selected eight for samples to be sent and estimate the cost will be about the same as the curtains in the living room bought a few years ago and which did not have black out lining which these will, so good value.

I had my second appointment with the physio in the afternoon, complete with face mask again. Last time I was left with physical bruises all over my shoulders - this time bruises near my collarbone, not sure Juls knows her own strength!

Colin was waiting when I came to leave Jules and as it was so grey I promised to return in the car to collect him in case it rained. However it started raining as I walked back, lightly at first and I tried to shelter between tree to tree but after a while I became soaked through and gave up trying to keep dry. I had to have a complete change of clothes when I got in and quickly did the washing up before heading back out to collect Colin. A little too quickly it seemed - as when I came to the last empty tuna tin to be washed out for the recycling, unfortunately - and I have no idea how this happened - I managed to cut my little finger very badly.

This does not seem a big injury but I could not stop it bleeding and the top bathroom looked rather like the chainsaw massacre. I realised I would probably need a couple of stitches so I bound it up as best I could to stop the bleeding and drove to collect Colin. He was rather surprised when I asked that he drive straight to the Teddington Memorial Hospital! I had not planned to visit a hospital during the lock down but in the event as it was clear what I had done I was seen very quickly. After a temperature check (absolutely fine at 36.6) and a discussion with the receptionist regarding the benefits of a dishwasher, I was finally seen by a nurse. It was only a 10 minute wait. She removed the dressing and it was immediately clear that it was wise I had visited. She cleaned the wound which was rather uncomfortable and applied two large butterfly stitches and a massive dressing as you can see here. I'm up-to-date with my tetanus injection so was let off that.

Back home for a sugary cup of tea to recover but despite my injury I still managed to make fish pie wearing an attractive latex glove to protect my dressing - not the best of days!
