7th April 2021

1 year, 14 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020.

We got up early today and braved a trip to stock up on things from Lidl. It is a lot less busy now than when we started going at the beginning of the lock down last year.

Later in the day I caught up with Mum although as usual, not too much news to exchange. I have also finally received a purchase order from Squires for the 170 cards that they need so I can crack on with making those up tomorrow.

The big announcement of the day was confirming the rumours regarding travel that have been floating around for the last few days. Apparently some overseas travel may begin from the 17th of May… however this is not definite and it all depends on how various countries are graded using a traffic light system. Green means go-go-go (with some tests), Amber means lots of tests and self isolation at home on return and Red means an expensive hotel self isolation with more expensive tests. However countries will be graded, basically this makes it very expensive to travel. I have been fretting about our trip to Switzerland booked for mid June. Who knew back last September that we would still be in such a state?! Unfortunately, Switzerland is not doing that well with vaccinations and their number of Covid cases are creeping up again. People in the business seem to think it could be in the Amber group. If this is the case we cannot go as the tests alone will cost nearly £700 and I cannot afford to have to self isolate for 5-10 days on our return. We are watching the news with bated breath…
