3rd June 2021

1 year, 69 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020

We had hoped to go up town to Wapping today for another mud-larking session. However virtually all trains in and out of London seemed to have delays or be cancelled so not wanting to get caught up in this we adapted and changed plans. I have wanted to visit the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park for a while but it is always difficult to combing good weather and not having other plans in place. We were a little late for the stunning colours of May even though they were a couple of weeks later this year.

We walked over Teddington footbridge watching pool on the each on lock island and actually swimming in the river. We had picked up some sandwiches from M&S and so we stopped on a bench by Ham pond on the green and ate them in the sunshine. We then continued walking to the Isabella through the park.

It was beautiful weather and I was lugging my camera which was lucky as there were so many signs of Spring or rather early summer with clutches of Mandarin duckings all around the various ponds. The first one ha 12 and the second clutch had 8 duckings of which this one adventures one who kept snaking away from its mother to do a few circuits of the Silent Pool. Once people had started to leave for the afternoon it started to quiet down and we could really enjoy the bird song - not to self never to visit during half term.

We walked back and achieved 16,121 footsteps by the time we sat down at home. Despite feeling quite tired and slightly sunburnt I managed to log onto my photo club Zoom session in the evening and remind people to buy tickets for our summer awards dinner in July.
