27th July 2021

1 year, 123 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020

We had an early rise this morning as we had booked an engineer to service our Baxi boiler. He arrived on time but we did not get off to a great start but after an hour Colin was relaxing as the chap did seem to know wha the was doing and our boiler got the all clear.

Meanwhile the noise levels next door were rising as the men working on their garden bought in various bits of kit including small excavators which they did not seem that familiar with how it all works. The garden looks a mess. Once the boiler man had left, I nipped out to Waterstones in Teddington to deliver cards to Teddington which now is the first store to be completely re-merchantised and it is looking good.

We then walked to meet Karen, Charley and her friend at Hampton Court Palace. Needless to say the heavens opened as we approached but luckily we were able to shelter and the others went into the Palace. Arrangements seem to have changed within the Palace and we were surprised that we had to have tickets simply to access the Tiltyard. When we did get in, there were virtually no cakes or lunch ties at 12.30pm. We had planned to have lunch in here but it was simply a no-no so we decided to walk back over Hampton Court Bridge a little later and we had lunch in a cafe we know just across the river.

We walked back home whilst Karen, Charley and Caroline continued around the Palace which certainly increased our footsteps to well over 10,000.

In the evening Chris came over after work and as we have the best Chinese take-away near us, we ordered a massive amount and then played games afterwards - it was a really nice evening.
