A day off from cleaning today as I had booked tickets for the Sony World Photography Awards at Somerset House for myself and Sarah.

We met at Raynes Park and then walked from Waterloo across the bridge to Somerset House. It was funny as we were stopped a number of times by people asking for help and we were very flattered that we were called 'girls' a number of times - they could have needed cataract operations though!

After a much needed coffee and rather strange cinnamon bun we headed into the exhibition. It was very good and after a two year absence it was a pleasure to walk around. I noticed quite a difference in the sort of image - a lot more drone shots and depictions of the destruction man is imposing on landscapes and habitats across the world.

There were also a lot of images of people affected, threatened or influenced by others such as people traffickers. These were very powerful.

These pollution worn cherubs were on the outside of St Clement Danes Church in the middle of the Strand. The road was closed for roadworks so we could easily access the church without the rush of traffic.

After this interlude we had lunch in a new coffee shop we discovered that apparently is a chain so I made a note of its name - the Soho Coffee Company - as it was a good price with fresh and healthy food.

We then headed back home and I had a night off from my photo club as without the car it is more of a hassle getting there although I did manage to get to exactly the same place for the quiz last night - no chance to win a bottle of champagne at St Lukes though!
