The weather forecast was good for today and I had been thinking for some time about a visit to the Chelsea Physic Garden Christmas event. This was mainly to have an opportunity to see the gardens at half the normal price! Colin was supposed to be at golf but as it was ‘carry only’ he decided to give it a miss and come with me. We caught the train up to Victoria and walked the twenty minutes or so to avoid the tube and also see parts of Chelsea we’ve not seen before.

The gardens were fascinating - I hadn’t realised how much history there was as the gardens were started by Culpepper in the late 1600’s. It was a lively show but quite high prices so in the end I only bought two coffees and Danishes to revive us. By chance I met two friends from my photo club there.

Afterwards we walked along the Embankment until we caught a bus to Hyde Park Corner and another to piccadilly so we could pop into Fortnum and Masons fo samples although there weren’t any - I picked up a couple of stocking fillers for Colin.

We continued on up Regents Street and the crowds started, stopping to buy vouchers for Charley and then finished up in John Lewis. We probably should have guessed that going to Oxford Street on what turned out to be Black Friday was not the best of ideas so rather than even attempt to get the tube back to Waterloo, we took the bus and it was almost civilised looking down onto the throng of people Oxford Circus. I was quite tired when we got home so a quick dinner of pasta was the easiest option.
