23rd December 2022

Today’s the day Colin was scheduled to have an operation to fix his carpel tunnel syndrome. He has it very badly in both hands but worse in his dominant right hand and a couple of weeks ago the surgeon contacted us as she had a slot in her last surgery before Christmas.

We got there earlier than originally scheduled as there had obviously been another drop out and after being asked the same questions many times over (and having a black arrow drawn on his right arm), he was taken into theatre and was left waiting in the ward as not many other people were there.

In just over half an hour he was back and all bandaged up. He has to keep the dressing on for at least ten days until the stitches are taken out which is conveniently over Christmas so he cannot cook, wash up or do much… I’m sure the timing was not deliberate!

He was well nigh to get the train back despite me wanting to call a taxi and he took it gently for the rest of the day. I had a sudden order for two photo vouchers and at a potential earning of nearly £400 it was too good to miss on so I had to leave Colin unsupervised for half an hour when I went to deliver them to St Margarets. Later in the evening I made a batch of coconut ice and to join the batch of fudge I had made yesterday evening!
I hope he is well on the way to a complete recovery!
