28th August 2026

After months of heat and sunshine, we had storm massive downpours today, one of which was as we left later afternoon for the drive to Swindon to see the Northern Soul group ‘Northern Live’. This will be our fourth time seeing them - we’re like groupies now!

The drive was fairly straight forward and unlike last time there was plenty of parking right next to the theatre. We had time for an early Nandos which was very good although for some reason I had a really bad bout of IBS, the first in a while.

Having recovered a bit we made our way to the theatre and found our seats - O29 and O30 in the upper level were really good. The concert was excellent as usual, the band have been working on a new set of songs but were very polished and all four singers were very good. Everyone always looks so happy at the end of a concert.

Colin drove back in the light of the full moon and it was a good journey until the car decided the speed limit was actually 100 miles per hour and the car was on c cruise control. Luckily Colin managed to override it and I discovered on Googling that this is a known problem with Skodas VWs and some other cars. It was quite scary.

Apart from the car incident between junctions 12-10 on the M4 it was a great evening and we were back before midnight.
