I went to Bushy Park hoping to photograph some ducklings or goslings but obviously I was too early as there was no sign of any but I did see some Coots and Canada geese sitting on nests - I’ll try again in a couple of weeks.
What I did find was a Mandarin Duck looking absolutely stunning in his full breeding plumage. I felt quite guilty as he and a lots of ducks and geese rushed up hoping for bread and I had none but this did give me the opportunity to get this shot. I wanted him out of the shadows for stronger reflections but with no snacks to tempt him he was not going anywhere! (His plumage is even clearer when viewed large)
@carolmw Thank you Carol - I am not sure where all the young are as I can see from your album you have some beautiful ducklings. My husband said that there were about 6-7 ducklings at his local golf club but sadly they have all disappeared, I'm not sure if the local foxes or crows are to blame :-(
@maggiemae They really are over the top... as usual in nature, the female is a lot more dowdy and slightly smaller. The new camera seems to make the colours a bit more vibrant as well :-)
