St George the Martyr church, rebuilt in 1736 is one of the oldest parishes in Southwark. There has been a church on this site since 1122.

This also happens to be the location of the London Photo Festival where I have 4-prints on display this week and this evening was the Private View. It went very well and I have put a small selection of photos on FaceBook - link below.

However, I thought I'd go for a 'Black and White Wednesday' image instead. This is on a different camera and I've upped the contrast and slightly vignetted the edges of the image.

Beautiful pov on the church, and a stunning sky behind it. Great shooting and processing. Congratulations on having your prints at the festival, I'll bet they are lovely.

@tristansmum Thank you, I was a bit rushed and without my usual camera as it is a bit big to lug around a Private View. To be honest it is just nice to see prints 'for real' on display as I spend so long prepping pics on the computer and sending them off on discs, somehow they don't feel quite photographs - I know that sounds odd!

This is why we go to churches. Uplifts us to the heavens. the clouds behind are amazing - so etherial. I especially like the glow around the tip top.
Congratulations for the show. Will check it out.

What a great shot. I like that you chose BW, adds a bit of drama to the shot.

I know this one well, having walked past it on many occasions (but always too early to go in!). Nice shot.

@helixconcepts @witchyjacq @tishpics @steampowered Wow thank you all and for the 'fave', @pflaume I think the BWW is such a good idea, something else for inspiration as it is sometimes challenging to come up with a different idea each day (loved your mist shot yesterday as well)

@pam1 @danette Thank you both, I sometimes forget that there are some amazing buildings in London, we travel the world but need to spend time enjoying our own city!

@barrowlane thank you - sorry didn't want to miss you out - Bertie is considerably more scary than Scarlett O'Hara who I photographed on the 9th!
