15th November 2013

This should be a photograph of the sunrise viewed in Bushy Park... it's not.

I'm not a 'lark' I'm most definitely an 'owl', happy to be working at 1am but absolutely dreadful first thing in the morning as Colin will testify. Therefore, a pre-dawn alarm as the weather forecast was for sun was very difficult for me. Never mind, once up it was actually quite nice, the sky changing to pink as sunrise approached and I walked briskly to Bushy Park feeling just a bit smug.

However, a major problem... all the gates were locked. Unfortunately there is a second deer cull which takes place in November which I had forgotten, so for safety reasons the park is opened later in the day. So, here is a photograph of one of the original wrought iron lamps on Teddington Gate at dawn, the closest I got to the park this morning. I've decided to wait until December for a sunrise shot now, the cull will be over and the start of the day will be later!!
Lovely detail and composition but my heart aches for the deer.

A lovely capture Emma. I feel both sad and angry to hear about the cull, especially as it usually happens because humans have upset the balance of nature in the first place. Sometimes I can't help thinking that the planet would be much better off without our species.

It has worked nicely against the darkening sky.
