A Lemony Kind of Day by ethelperry

A Lemony Kind of Day

Although this was taken almost two weeks ago, it really suits my mood today. It is cold and drizzling rain, the kind I wish would stop or get on with it and give us a good old downpour.
I am also feeling grizzly that produce is being packaged in this way. Unless the netting is recycled sensitively, it could cause the death of a bird or sea creature. When will we ever learn?
We certainly had enough rain to share with you Ethel, Maggie was not at all impressed. I completely agree with you about packaging, it's right out of hand. I've done what I can do personally, eg my own cotton bags for fruit/veg or just leave the items loose, but can do zip about stuff like these nets.

Yes a lemony kind of day here as well .. I don't know why they have to pack in so much plastic when we are encouraged to use recycle bags.. I refuse to buy these pre packed fruit and put my own in my net bags..

Yes, good to see supermarkets finally banning single use carry bags and then wrecking the environment by prepacking lots of fruit in single use bags.

I know what you mean about plastic packaging. I won't buy lemons or oranges wrapped in plastic, I always buy them loose. The supermarkets have stopped giving away plastic bags but now all the fruit and veg are wrapped in plastic. How is that saving the planet!

I'm horrified at the amount of plastic that is being used. I avoid it wherever I can. All of the soft, scrunchable plastic that finds it way into my house is taken back to the supermarket where it's collected and then recycled into other products rather than going into landfill.
