Blue Icicles

Dale Chihuly Installation at the Dallas Arboretum

One of the reasons I wanted to visit the Dallas Arboretum was the special exhibition of Dale Chihuly glass. In September Denise Daly @denisedaly posted some beautiful photos of the Chihuly Garden & Glass exhibit in Seattle, Washington, and I was intrigued. Thanks, Denise!

The names of the glass works are based on the shapes. Chihuly developed this "icicle" shape for the harsh winters in Washington. Earlier, I posted a photo of "marlins" at http://365project.org/eudora/365/2012-10-16 which I assume are named for the fish.
awesome blue. I can't believe they are real. Love the stone work. elegant, charming and rich. the greens are so lush and soft looking. GORGEOUS exposure. Fav

@jpvona Thanks so much for the fav! The Dallas Arboretum was wonderful--if I lived there, I'd be a frequent visitor for sure.

What a gorgeous garden to display Chihuly's work. Love that bright blue in there...and the stone (limestone?) really is beautiful. Would love to visit that place. I saw Chihuly's work when I lived in Washinton. He was just beginning to get his reputation and quickly rose to national recognition. A very talented man.

It's interesting to me how he's made these icicles look like they belong there- they blend in well with the environment. Nice capture!
