Outdoor kitchen

A reconstructed kitchen at the E.D. White house near Thibodaux, LA. Nothing remarkable about it--I just liked the simple little building surrounded by post-thunderstorm green.
It looks like a cozy little cottage- but it was just for cooking?

@olivetreeann Yes, it was for just for cooking. The kitchens were almost always separate from the main house because of the danger of fire. I used to volunteer at a plantation house museum and did some cooking over an open fire. It was interesting for a day or two, and I loved it when school groups came, but it must have been miserable to cook like that all the time!

@eudora I worked in an early American village while in collage and although most of the cooking was done indoors in the old log cabins, they did have a harvest day once where I did a natural dye on wool over an open fire. That was a job!!
