That fort in the background...

The shrimp boat is OK--but Fort Proctor (AKA Fort Beauregard) in the background fascinates me. The fort was built in the 1840's and is now accessible only by boat. My son has a boat. Maybe someday...?
Has the water level changes that much?

The land has eroded around the fort, but that began with hurricanes years ago,. Currently, however, coastal erosion is a huge problem on the Louisiana coast.

Great shot of the boat, even greater shot of the fort. Is it just there or is it some kind of a park? I would definitely have to try and get out there I think. Just think of the history you could discover!

@joysabin Diane forgot to tag you in her response above.

@grammyn Thanks! I had to look it up. It was built before the Civil War but never put in service. It used to be accessible by land. I'm not sure how safe it would be to explore, but I'd sure like to get closer.

Cool shot ... I agree with you about the fort. Hope you get to go there!

Beautiful shot and a lovely well equipped boat. Our coastline is surrounded with fortifications too.

@eudora even more intriguing if never used
