@joysabin@grammyn@olivetreeann Thanks for your comments. It is an old Louisiana French Creole house which typically had doors into each room, I guess for ventilation. I noticed it as I was driving and was excited so see it is being renovated.
@grammyn LOL That is a guess! I had a professor at LSU who said features like this were the style, not practical devices, and he traced them back to France. So who knows? What I DO know is that I dearly love these old houses!
