The Fisherman

We were in the process of moving to Fort Pierce, Florida when I met this fisherman. I still remember his story. From Kansas, he got cold one winter and drove to Florida for a vacation. He never went back. He lived near the Indian River in a motel converted to efficiency apartments. He had a radio but no TV and he didn't miss it much. He supplemented his government checks by occasionally selling fish and bait. A new edit of a photo I posted in 2014.
A great story, Diane. I bet he never looked back. He looks like he enjoys fishing and what a great catch.

Enjoyed reading your story. My mom grew up in Fort Pierce. Wish I was there now instead of Iowa!

That's quite a beautiful fish he captured while fish with a rod from the beach. Our fishermen have to go out in their boats for a good distance to catch fish that size.

Thank you for your comment, Diane. since the fish huts are your own property (not rentals) you can have a stove in it. we used to have a Coleman stove where we could warm up food and drinks and our snowmobiles close by. that of course was years ago when we were a lot younger and more mobile..
