Margaret Bourke-White: Fresh Water Line, Flood Victims, Louisville, 1937

In the collection of the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Sigh. Can you imagine waiting in a line with your bucket for some fresh water?

Her other photos from the flood, including the iconic "The American Way," can be seen here https://time.com/3879426/the-american-way-photos-from-the-great-ohio-river-flood-of-1937/
Thankyou for sharing the link and this photo.

Sad time

Actually I can- because we were out of water a long while back from one of the hurricanes and supermarkets were rationing the water so there'd be enough for everyone until the electricity was back. We have well water- but we need electric to get it out of the ground and into our sink! Anyway- it was not as desperate as this, but yes, I can imagine that.
