Many mornings I take a wander out to the front of the house to take a photo of the ants crawling, the bark peeling, the snails waiting, or the sap dripping on the fir tree beside the road. Sometimes people drive by...slowly staring. Sometimes people walk by...slowly staring. I always wave and say hello if I see them. Sometimes people look on from their balconies from the apartments across the road as I take my time first perusing the trunk of the tree then deciding what to photograph then setting up shot after shot. Sometimes I even...gasp...SIT IN THE DIRT!
I love this photo because the sap is nice and sharp and it shows the little progress lines from where it dripped. It also shows the wee stress cracks from where it is beginning to harden. I like the colors and the small reflections.
I love this too, the sap is on the move. You do what you have to do and the results are always wonderful. The richness of colour and texture here is magnificent.
You know you're a real 365er when you've had funny looks from passers by!
